Creative IP Strategist Donielle Robinson Expands Brand and Trademark Capabilities

CHICAGO, Il (July 9, 2025) — Donielle “Doni” Robinson, a creative strategist and seasoned intellectual property attorney, has joined Barnes & Thornburg’s Chicago office in the firm’s Intellectual Property Department. With nearly a decade of experience, Robinson assists clients in building, protecting and monetizing brand assets across borders and platforms. 

“Doni’s creative background and holistic approach to IP counseling allow her to help clients grow and protect their brands with precision and purpose,” said Michael Carrillo, managing partner in the Chicago office. “Her skillset is a great fit for the increasingly multidisciplinary nature of today’s brand and IP work and the firm’s large but expanding trademark prosecution practice.” 

Robinson advises clients on the full life cycle of trademark strategy — from clearance and prosecution to global enforcement and litigation. Her work spans a wide range of industries, including media and entertainment, consumer packaged goods and food and beverage, where brand identity is central to ongoing growth. She also counsels on copyright matters, domain name disputes, right of publicity, and the emerging IP implications of generative AI and digital content ownership. 

With a foundation in digital publishing and graphic design, Robinson brings a visually attuned and business-minded perspective to brand development as of counsel. She also supports clients through IP-driven transactions, drafting and negotiating licensing and commercial agreements and advising on intellectual property issues in M&A and other corporate matters.

Robinson earned her J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, where she focused on Law, Technology & the Arts, and her B.S. in New Media Publishing from Rochester Institute of Technology.
