Amy Poyer has extensive experience litigating in state and federal trial courts and at the appellate level, filing briefs with the California Court of Appeal, California Supreme Court, Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Her breadth of experience at the trial and appellate level enables her to provide key strategical advice and top-notch advocacy to her clients.

Amy has led significant impact litigation in both state and federal court, and has participated in state court appeals in the California Court of Appeal and California Supreme Court, as well as federal appellate courts throughout the country, advocating on behalf of women and girls throughout the state. 

Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Amy served as senior staff attorney for the California Women’s Law Center, leading the organization’s legal efforts through impact litigation, policy advocacy, education, and training. Before her work with the California Women’s Law Center, she was an associate in the Los Angeles office of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP where she gained skills and strengths in virtually all areas of trial preparation and litigation. Prior to that, she served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Justice Warren E. Jones of the Idaho Supreme Court. 

Amy offers clients a broad array of experience at the trial and appellate levels, and is known for providing keen analytical legal advice while fostering positive collaborative relationships with clients.
