Bruce Ratain helps clients resolve patent infringement, false advertising, and trademark litigation as well as a range of other intellectual property and commercial disputes.
Handling virtually all phases of patent and trademark litigation, Bruce has deep experience advising on issues of liability and damages. He represents clients in inter partes review (IPR) proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) and in matters before the National Advertising Division (NAD) of the BBB National Programs. He also guides clients in complying with Federal Trade Commission (FTC) rules and regulations.
Bruce’s patent litigation work spans myriad industries, including medical devices, renewable chemical intermediates, lithium-ion batteries, automotive technology, software, pharmaceuticals, food packaging and agricultural equipment. Bruce also resolves commercial disputes including post-acquisition contract disputes.
Augmenting his IP practice, Bruce serves as pro bono counsel in immigration proceedings. He successfully prepared and argued an asylum case for a detained individual fleeing life-threatening political persecution and has also represented numerous families in Afghanistan seeking Special Immigrant Visas or other immigration relief in recognition of their service to the United States.
