With nearly 40 years of experience, David provides sophisticated counsel in estate planning and business succession planning, customized to the specific and unique goals of each client, their family and business. David values getting to know his clients from day one and works jointly with clients and their advisers to develop client-centered plans and guidance for wealth transfer, charitable gifts, estate tax reduction, planning, and creditor protection to protect wealth for transferring to future generations.

David also has many years of experience in forming business and investment vehicle entities, integrating the formed entities with his client’s current estate and business succession plans. He works with the client’s team of advisers to ensure the material assets are all properly titled and allocated to, and between, the multiple trusts and entities formed to create a customized, integrated and holistic estate and business succession plan.

David and his team regularly assist clients with trust and estate administration, as well as working with G2 and G3 clients to assist them through the administration process.

In addition to working with clients’ companies and businesses, which include manufacturing, technology, healthcare, dental professionals, medical devices, real estate development and agriculture, David serves and counsels many private companies and company owners. This work includes coordinating the company’s and the owner’s needs for many services that Barnes & Thornburg provides not only in Michigan, but throughout the country, including litigation, labor and employment, IP, environmental, real estate and insurance counseling services.
