Gabriela drafts legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda, as well as written discovery and other relevant documents. She also assists in trial preparation by organizing and preparing exhibits filings and depositions, and communicating with expert witnesses.
Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg full-time, Gabriela was a law clerk and summer associate with the firm. She conducted research on complex procedural and substantive issues in the employment, civil, commercial and insurance litigation practice areas, as well as product liability, restructuring and bankruptcy, and environmental law. During her second summer at the firm, Gabriela did a secondment with an agriculture company on projects involving Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mitigation policies.
During law school, Gabriela gained valuable experience as a student advocate at the Re-Entry Assistance and Community Help (REACH) Clinic in Indianapolis, where she provided personalized support to a recently released federal probationer regarding issues related to the collateral effects of incarceration. She delivered monthly oral reports to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana on the participant’s progress and adherence to the REACH program.
