Jacob Palcic focuses his practice on advising clients on a wide variety of litigation matters. Jacob represents the interests of individuals and corporations across Indiana and Michigan. Focused and creative, he strives to deeply understand his clients’ issues, leading to precise, effective advocacy and efficient dispute resolution.
Jacob is well-versed in written discovery and document production, conducting depositions, handling settlement negotiations, and preparing and drafting motions, briefs and other court filings. He has secured numerous dismissals on motions to dismiss and for summary judgment, including in cases he has handled as first-chair attorney, without subjecting the client to the expense and ordeal of a trial. Jacob often achieves favorable results for clients through mediation and other settlement negotiations.
Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Jacob was an associate attorney at an Indiana-based firm, where he represented clients in litigation and business matters, with a focus on commercial and governmental defense litigation in state and federal courts.
In law school, Jacob interned with the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina, where he drafted appellate briefs on criminal sentencing issues. He also interned at the Southern Environmental Law Center, where he assisted in legal representation of environmental advocacy groups.
