Jessica Reiss helps energy sector clients comply with environmental laws. Counseling utility companies to achieve and maintain compliance with environmental regulations, her work spans air, water and land resources. Should a problem arise, Jessica helps clients respond to facility audits and work through enforcement actions from administrative agencies.
In addition to advising environmental directors and managers at Indiana’s large utility companies, Jessica advises clients on renewable energy development and permitting initiatives involving solar, wind, battery storage and natural gas generation. Outside of the energy sector, she also counsels manufacturing clients in all of their environmental compliance needs.
As a former regulator and inhouse compliance officer, Jessica provides firsthand experience to clients as they navigate this highly regulated field. She applies knowledge gained as an attorney in the Indiana Department of Environmental Management to advise clients using best practices across the spectrum of environmental issues. She counsels on environmental compliance, safety, sustainability, air permitting, storm water, wastewater pretreatment, hazardous waste programs, tanks and related enforcement actions, among other matters.
Her in-house experience at an automotive manufacturing company further informs her ability to strategically manage environmental health and safety matters. This dual, authentic experience is very valuable to her clients, as it allows her to provide exceedingly practical, user-friendly guidance through a complicated process.
A leader in her field, Jessica co-authored the book Carbon Capture and Sequestration: Removing the Legal and Regulatory Barriers, which explores the regulatory barriers facing deployment of carbon capture and sequestration technologies and provides both legislative and regulatory solutions.
