Patent attorney Joseph Fehribach assists the firm’s clients in patent prosecution and dispute resolution. Joseph seeks to understand the goals surrounding patents and patent portfolios in order to develop tactical applications that enhance market protection and support future licensing or other agreements.

Joseph’s experience primarily includes patent preparation and prosecution. Joseph’s client-oriented approach to delivering legal counsel aids him in achieving efficient and cost-effective solutions for those he serves. Joseph’s drive and persistence enable him to serve and advise clients in many aspects of intellectual property, no matter how large or small the matter may be.

Joseph utilizes his skills in drafting and prosecuting patent applications to help clients grow and protect their intellectual property assets. He is competent in a wide variety of technical disciplines, including mechanical and electromechanical systems in the aerospace, medical, automotive, child safety and consumer products industries, among others.

In addition to patent preparation and prosecution, Joseph advises clients on all aspects of risk management related to their patent portfolio and their competitors. He is experienced in handling patentability, freedom to operate and invalidity studies and works with clients to identify, evaluate and prioritize their needs using these tools. 

Before joining Barnes & Thornburg full-time, Joseph gained legal experience as a law clerk for the firm while he attended law school. During his time as a law clerk, Joseph was responsible for assisting with matters in intellectual property law.
