As a member of the firm’s Office of General Counsel, Joshua Brand counsels the firm’s attorneys and management on ethical challenges, legal conflicts, and professional responsibility issues related to the practice of law. With strong attention to detail, Joshua brings a conscientious and experience-based approach to the resolution of ethics issues.
With over 15 years of experience in the professional responsibility arena, Joshua is well-versed in the requirements of the Rules of Professional Conduct and in identifying and mitigating the risk of potential ethics violations.
Joshua brings to the role of professional responsibility attorney the unique perspective of a former disciplinary prosecutor, previously serving as a senior assistant director with Minnesota’s Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility. In that capacity, Joshua investigated allegations of professional misconduct against Minnesota lawyers, prosecuted violations of the Rules of Professional Conduct, and argued several discipline cases before the Minnesota Supreme Court.
He has extensive experience providing attorneys with individualized ethics advice and guidance, conducting legal ethics research and analysis, drafting legal memoranda and pleadings based upon investigative findings, and leading education courses on the subjects of ethics and professional responsibility.
