Julie works with clients across a range of industries — government, healthcare, real estate, entertainment, corporate contracting and more — to identify operational needs and implement targeted, practical solutions. Whether advising on process design, facilitating technology builds, or integrating AI to streamline work, she focuses on the most fiscally responsible and effective approaches to solve each client’s unique challenges.
Julie served for over four years as lead Legal Project Manager to assist the Special Compliance Coordinator, appointed by the U.S. Department of Commerce, to monitor, assess and report on the U.S. export control compliance of Zhongxing Telecommunications Equipment Corporation, of Shenzhen, China, and ZTE Kangxun Telecommunications Ltd. of Hi-New Shenzhen, China (collectively, ZTE). In that time, she helped manage a large team of professionals, overseeing the export control compliance of ZTE and its affiliates — guiding complex reporting, tight schedules and high-stakes coordination with consistency and precision.
Before joining Barnes & Thornburg, Julie held project and program management roles at OneAmerica, CNO Financial Group, and Human Kinetics Publishing, where she led cross-functional teams through complex solution rollouts with a focus on process improvement, governance, and compliance. Today, she brings that operational mindset to her work at the firm and is a key contributor to the Legal Operations team — a nationally recognized platform that delivers legal services with greater efficiency, predictability and value.
