Matt’s practice encompasses almost every aspect of traditional labor relations, including collective bargaining, NLRB election/petitions, unfair labor practice litigation and appellate review of NLRB orders, and contract administration/arbitrations. He serves as lead negotiator for both public and private sector employers and has led negotiations for more than 80 collective bargaining agreements, including first-time and successor contracts. He has represented employers across entertainment, non-profit, healthcare, manufacturing (both heavy and light), warehousing/distribution, retail, food service and automotive sectors in negotiations and union organizing campaigns and related matters.
His practice includes representing clients in labor arbitrations, unfair labor practice proceedings, and Section 301 litigation in federal court. He has also handled appellate matters before the National Labor Relations Board, as well as the Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, Ninth and D.C. Circuit Courts. In 2016, Matt served as Director and Counsel for Labor Relations at a Fortune 500 company, where he managed contract negotiations and labor disputes across the country, often in matters involving the Teamsters.
Matt also engages with clients in training and risk-assessment. A recognized thought leader in positive employee relations, Matt designs and delivers advanced training programs for employers, focusing on the behavioral and communication dynamics that influence workplace engagement. He is a frequent writer and speaker on labor topics and brings a practical, business-minded approach to client counseling.
