Thoughtful and driven, Melia Hopkins is committed to adding value to every phase of a transaction. She represents clients on a broad range of complex commercial real estate transactions, including the development, acquisition and disposition of industrial, hotel, retail, multifamily and mixed-use projects in Texas and throughout the country. 

She advises clients on virtually all phases of real property transactions and has experience conducting title and survey review and related due diligence, drafting and reviewing transaction documents, and coordinating closings.

Within her commercial real estate practice, Melia also represents landlords and tenants in connection with office, medical, industrial, retail and other commercial leases.

Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Melia served as an associate at a Houston-based law firm. There she assisted local and national clients, including institutional asset managers, developers, and real estate companies. She also gained experience at a Fortune 500 multinational finance and insurance corporation where she worked with in-house clients on corporate governance and insurance issues, and drafted and negotiated a variety of commercial contracts, including non-disclosure agreements, event contracts, and release and indemnification agreements.

As an avid foodie, Melia enjoys cooking at home and trying new restaurants around Dallas.
