Peter Morris, a former Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California, is a tenacious advocate for institutional clients, senior executives, and individuals in complex, high-stakes litigation, including white collar defense, civil rights litigation, and regulatory enforcement actions. Clients turn to Peter when facing allegations of securities, banking, and healthcare fraud; criminal antitrust; bribery; money laundering; tax evasion; and environmental crimes.

Peter also has a growing and impactful civil rights practice. He has represented clients in precedent-setting litigation against law enforcement and public institutions. In Williams v. LASD, LAC, et al., Peter secured a $2 million damages award and $2 million in attorneys’ fees on behalf of a mother whose unarmed son was fatally shot by sheriff’s deputies during a mental health crisis. The case involved extensive pro bono work, aggressive discovery efforts, and a rare entry of default judgment based on the defendants’ misconduct. In R.L. v. AUSD, LAC, et al., Peter is currently representing a high school student in a civil rights lawsuit against a public school district and LA County, challenging a wrongful expulsion that violated the student’s constitutional rights.

In addition to civil rights and criminal defense matters, Peter advises clients on complex business litigation, healthcare matters, and securities litigation. He has represented clients in over 20 Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) actions and investigations throughout his career, including high-profile cases such as resolving options backdating allegations against one of the world’s largest semiconductor companies and defending a major U.S. defense contractor against claims of improper revenue recognition.

Peter also has significant experience in corporate monitorships. He currently serves as the independent corporate compliance monitor for a global apparel company pursuant to its plea agreement with the U.S. government and previously served as a key member of the monitorship team for a major U.S. medical device manufacturer under a deferred prosecution agreement.

Clients hire Peter because he is a fighter. Peter forms close bonds with his clients because he genuinely cares about their needs and goals. In his fourth decade as a lawyer, Peter has a highly developed skill set that he employs to achieve victory for his clients. High net worth individuals rely on Peter to handle all of their critical litigation because they trust Peter and his devotion to their cause.
