Partner, Tax Practice Group Co-Chair

Randy Kaltenmark concentrates his practice on estate planning, tax planning, and controversies involving federal, state, and local taxes, as well as estate and trust administration. His clients include high-net-worth families, business owners, executives, fiduciaries, and business entities.

Randy works closely with clients to develop tax-efficient estate plans for their assets.  His work includes estate and trust administration, including probate, the preparation and audits of estate and gift tax returns, and advising on family governance, family office formation, business succession, and tax-efficient wealth transfer strategies.

Randy also guides clients through the complex world of tax law. He provides legal solutions to federal and particularly state and local tax issues.  He is dedicated to translating intricate tax concepts into plain English to empower clients to make informed decisions about their tax planning. Randy is involved in the drafting of Indiana tax statutes, testifying on tax legislation before the Indiana General Assembly, seeking advisory letters, letter rulings, voluntary disclosure agreements, and settlement and other agreements.

Aside from counseling and planning, Randy is experienced in representing public companies, private businesses, and individuals in tax controversies before the Internal Revenue Service, various state and local tax authorities, and the courts – notably the Indiana Tax Court and U.S. Tax Court. By defending taxpayers faced with tax audits, administrative proceedings, and judicial appeals, Randy helps them achieve resolutions to mitigate their tax liabilities.
