Robyn Maguire

Partner, Drug and Medical Device Litigation Co-Chair

Robyn Maguire is a trial attorney with significant experience representing pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, distributors, and retailers in mass tort and product liability litigation. She has deep experience regarding the development, sale, and distribution of prescription and over-the-counter drugs and medical devices, including drug and cosmetic formulation, analytical testing, biomaterials applications, supply chain logistics, medical device testing standards, operating room protocols, and healthcare compliance issues.

Robyn currently serves as national counsel to a consumer products company in toxic tort litigation related to benzene exposure in aerosol sunscreens. She also represents 13 retailers in the Zantac product liability litigation, pending in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals and Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas. She has previously represented defendants in cases related to over-the-counter talcum powder products, pediatric painkillers, and allergy, acne, and heartburn medications – as well as prescription total joint implants, surgical drills, and antipsychotic medications.

Robyn is often called upon to develop the strategies necessary to exclude opposing, scientific experts. In 2024, she obtained summary judgment in several cases after deposing and excluding experts in the fields of oncology, medical toxicology, environmental exposure, metallurgy, and biomechanics. Robyn also recently obtained summary judgment in a landmark decision of the Massachusetts Superior Court (asbestos docket) relating to the level of knowledge necessary to hold a retailer liable under the Massachusetts breach of warranty (strict liability) statute.

Beyond her product liability practice, Robyn has considerable experience in real estate and land use litigation, including title disputes, zoning appeals and affordable housing claims. She is also actively involved in pro bono, civic, and charitable initiatives and has filed amicus briefs in the U.S. Supreme Court and U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit on matters involving immigration and employment discrimination, respectively.
