Timothy Junk

Timothy J. Junk

Of Counsel

Timothy Junk brings four decades of environmental and bankruptcy litigation experience, having served six successive Indiana attorneys general as deputy attorney general. Tim advises clients on Superfund matters and sophisticated environmental litigation.

As a Deputy Attorney General, he prosecuted and defended complex environmental cases in administrative, state, and federal tribunals, including cases before the Indiana Court of Appeals and the U.S. Court of Appeals. He litigated matters related to the federal and state regulation of land, water and air, including Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) sites, surface mining sites, floodways, dams and asserting natural resource damage claims.

As lead counsel for the state, Tim successfully asserted the state’s environmental claims in bankruptcy courts throughout the U.S. to fund millions of dollars in cleanup obligations in Indiana. While serving as deputy attorney general, he was responsible for investigating and finding admissible evidence against defendants, crafting pleadings and briefs, conducting trials and, if trial was averted, conducting and finalizing settlement documents.

Immediately prior to joining the firm, Tim was counsel for the Site 0153 Superfund Alternative Project, where he assisted the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) in successfully implementing a state-funded Superfund cleanup, thus removing the threat of EPA placing the site on the National Priorities List.
