Although Bill Lewis has worked on matters encompassing the full spectrum of real estate law over his 30-year career, he primarily focuses on leasing, acquisition, disposition and the sale/leasebacks of office, industrial and retail property. Bill’s keen business sense and reasonable and practical advice keeps his clients’ projects moving forward.

As leasing counsel, Bill handles national and international headquarters’ leases for his clients, which consist of Fortune 1,000 corporations, privately held companies, individuals and not-for-profit entities on deals ranging from 2,500 rentable square feet (RSF) to 700,000 RSF, and industrial leases averaging between 450,000 RSF and 850,000 RSF.

He represents tenants and sublandlords in all industries on their various lease-related matters, and is familiar with office and industrial leasing markets, as well as market-based legal and business terms, across the United States and Canada. He has negotiated and completed leases on four continents and has often acted as his clients’ sole real estate counsel.

As an adviser to his numerous clients, Bill has assisted with the acquisition and disposition of more than $1 billion in industrial, office and retail properties, many containing environmental issues. He has managed the real estate component of stock and asset sales with purchase prices as large as $350 million.

Bill has also assisted a wide range of clients with the sale and leaseback of their commercial real estate holdings in the office, industrial and retail sectors totaling in excess of $1.5 billion. In these triple-net transactions, Bill has represented both tenants and landlords on a nationwide basis, with market-based knowledge.

Dedicated to giving back to the community, Bill regularly represents clients in pro bono matters, most recently serving Chicago Volunteer Legal Services, The Other Side Academy and Lawyers for the Creative Arts.
